NSW and Queensland both listed and purchased more than 1000 head less than they did the previous week.
Most lighter steer and heifer weight categories recorded price gains, while heavier lines tended to soften, in c/kg terms.
Steers 200-280kg lifted 20c on last week to average 391c/kg, while ranging from 278c to 466c. From Coolah, NSW, 103 Angus steers 7-9 months averaging 224kg returned $1010/head or 450c/kg and will travel to a buyer near Tamworth, NSW.
Steers 280-330kg, with a large catalogue of 2368 head, lifted 34c to average 380c. while 330-400kg descriptions averaged 367c, up 9c on last week.
Moving in the opposite direction was steers +400kg, down 9c despite a small offering to average 360c.
Heifers
Heifer price trends were mixed, in c/kg terms. Heifers 2090-280kg lifted 30c to average 297c, while 280-330kg examples lost 19c to average 300c.
From Capoompeta, NSW 36 Angus heifers 15-18 months averaging 286kg returned $1040 or 364c and will travel to a buyer near Armidale, NSW.
Among heavier weights, heifers 330-400kg jumped 35c (only 283 were offered) to average 341c, while heavy heifers +400kg lost 10c/kg (despite an offering of only 146 head) to average 300c.

Breeding females
Breeding females saw large swings in prices from the previous week. SM and PTIC cows experienced the greatest gains at $155 and $137/head respectively, while SM heifers dropped an average of $322/head.
From Cowra, NSW, 38 Angus heifers 20-21 months averaging 503kg returned $2080/head, or 414c/kg, will travel to a buyer near Trangie, NSW. Among larger lines, 116 PTIC Angus x Hereford cows 3-7 years averaging 581kg from Walcha NSW made $1600 a head.
