Beef Central, 17/11/2016

Three leading red meat industry companies have been named among eight finalists for the 54th Australian Export Awards National  Agribusiness Award for 2016.

Federal trade minister Steve Ciobo this morning announced 81 finalists in the 54th Australian Export Awards, which recognise success in taking Australian innovation to the world.

Among the eight finalists named for the National Agribusiness Award for 2016 are Consolidated Pastoral Company, Thomas Foods International and Stockyard Pty Ltd.

The national winners will be announced at a ceremony in Brisbane on Thursday 24 November 2016.

One of the 81 finalists across the various categories will also be named the Australian Exporter of the Year.

Mr Ciobo said the exporters recognised were driving Australia’s successful transition to a post-mining boom economy.

“They represent the best we have to offer,” he said.

Nearly 40 per cent of finalists are classified as small businesses with 20 staff or less, and 53 per cent generate more than half their revenue from exports.

The National finalists are the category winners in their state or territory export award program.

The Australian Export Awards are co-presented by Austrade, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and CPA Australia.
