NLRS sale commentary:

Yarding 7000 Change -100

Very good quality weaner cattle were penned this week. Numbers remained similar to the previous sale, while extra feedlot buyer competition helped boost medium and heavy weight yearling steer prices.

With the promise of some rain west of Roma, restocker buyers paid 7c to 11c more for light weight yearling steers and light weight yearling heifers jumped 6c to 18c/kg. Solid export processor competition held 3 score cow prices firm to 5c/kg dearer on average.

Light weight yearling steers topped at 372c, while steer calves earned to 376c, and most light steers averaged between 325c and 339c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold to 338c and averaged 326c, while those to restockers made to 332c and averaged 321c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers earned to 333c and averaged 302c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers reached 312c and averaged between 289c and 300c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed hit 312c and averaged 298c, while those returning to the paddock sold to 320c and averaged 309c/kg.
