Yarding 3678 Change -522
Yarding numbers declined after scattered rainfall across most of the supply area. Some good quality steers were penned and attracted very strong competition from domestic feedlot buyers. Medium weight yearling steers gained 10c/kg and heavy weight yearling steers to feed lifted 19c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers continued to gain more demand during the sale and all classes lifted in price.
Light weight yearling steers to feedlot buyers made to 235c and averaged 216c, up 6c, while those to restocker buyers topped at 231c and averaged 211c, up 6c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed earned to 234c and averaged 220c, up 10c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to 231c and averaged 214c, up 19c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to feedlot buyers reached 204c and averaged 186c, up 17c, while those returning to the paddock hit 204c and averaged 190c, up 14c/kg. Those to New South Wales processors made to 194c and averaged 174c, up 3c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed topped at 200c and averaged 182c, up 4c/kg.

Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 235c/kg and averaged 213c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 234c/kg and averaged 217c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 231c/kg and averaging 220c/kg.
Landmark Roma’s Rod Turner advises that next Tuesday, December 16, will be a Combined Prime and Store Sale. This will be the last Cattle Sale for 2014.
