Martin Bunyard, 05/05/2015

Roma Store Sale NLRS commentary

Yarding 9234 Change 2323

Yarding numbers jumped 25% week-on-week, with large consignments from the local supply area and central west Queensland. The quality of store cattle was fair to good, with all the usual feedlot buyers operating. Good numbers of restocker buyers were present and provided extra competition for some heavy weight yearling steers going to oats crops. Good quality light and medium weight heifers continued to attracted solid competition from feedlot, processor, and restocker buyers, but plainer sorts were cheaper. Cows and calves sold to $1,100/unit.

Light weight yearling steers topped at 298c and averaged 268c, up 8c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 270c and averaged 240c, while those to restockers earned to 290c and averaged 259c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached 268c and averaged 250c, up 1c/kg.
