Yarding 5140 Change 3349

Numbers experienced a large lift following the rain reduced yarding the previous week.

Overall quality was generally good and included a large consignment of over 1,400 head of vendor bred lightweight yearling steers and heifers. The large contingent of buyers included some online bidders from interstate. The online activity increased competition on the lightweight yearling steers by 4c to 12c and the heifer portion by 10c to 20c/kg. The export slaughter descriptions of heavy grown steers, bullocks and cows sold to very solid demand.

Steer calves to restockers made to 390.2c to average 387c, while the heifer portion averaged 328c/kg. Lightweight yearling steers to restockers made to 400c on a few occasions with a very large number averaging 383c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed were in demand and made to 388.2c, to average 366c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed mostly sold around 346c with a few pens to 353.2c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers returning to the paddock consistently sold around 338c with some to 352.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to the occasional 352.2c with most around 311c/kg. Heavy grown steers to export slaughter averaged 330c and made to 335.2c and bullocks made to 320c, to average 315c/kg. Restockers were the major buyers on the plain condition cows with most around 238c with some to 247.2c/kg. Good heavy cows to export slaughter made to 282.2c to average 274c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 291.2c/kg.

Roma weaner steers hit 400c/kg

A total of 5140 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 399c/kg and averaged 382c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 400c/kg and averaged 382c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 400c/kg and averaged 376c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 385c/kg and averaged 356c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 353c/kg and averaging 319c/kg.

Kindee Pastoral Co, Muya, Mitchell, sold Charolais steers to 400c/kg for 301kg to return $1206/head. The Santa-cross heifers sold to 366c for 369kg to return $1352.

A & R Scott, Mayfield South, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 396c for 244kg to return $966.

Cytherea Pastoral Co, Enfield, Mitchell, sold Charolais steers to 393c for 260kg to return $1019.

S & K Bowen, Merrie Downs, Quilpie, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 390c for 265kg to return $1036. The Droughtmaster heifers sold to 348c for 355kg to return $1236.

S & V Tennyson, The Pines, Miles, sold Angus steers to 388c for 186kg to return $725. The Angus heifers sold to 345c for 172kg to return $596.

Neven Grazing Co, Mt Beagle, Roma, sold Simmental-cross steers to 384c for 319kg to return $1228. The Simmental-cross heifers sold to 356c for 345kg to return $1231.

M & M Bright, Karoola Park, Roma, sold Droughtmaster steers to 384c for 266kg to return $1023.

R & E Lister, Trevallen, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 382c for 274kg to return $1047.

D & S Joliffe, Walhallow, Amby, sold Santa-cross steers to 378c for 259kg to return $981.

Currawarra Pastoral Co, Currawarra, Mitchell, sold Santa steers to 376c for 231kg to return $870. The Santa heifers sold to 348c for 288kg to return $1003.

C & M Finch, South Trafford, Wallumbilla, sold Santa-cross steers to 374c for 325kg to return $1218.

I & H Brindley, Glenapp, Mitchell, sold Santa-cross steers to 372c for 265kg to return $988. The Santa-cross heifers sold to 334c for 231kg to return $774.

Golden Pastoral Holdings, Nullin, Yuleba, sold Angus heifers to 352c for 214kg to return $755.

Georgina Partnership, Keeroongooloo, Quilpie, sold Charolais-cross steers to 335c for 507kg to return $1701.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 366c/kg and averaged 304c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 358c/kg and averaged 320c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 368c/kg and averaged 344c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 352c/kg and averaged 333c/kg.

Brown & Sons, Beenfield, McKinlay, sold Droughtmaster heifers sold to 322c for 348kg to return $1122.

Cows over 500kg sold to 292c/kg and averaged 262c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 280c/kg and averaged 253c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 270c/kg and averaged 234c/kg.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 358c/kg and averaged 320c/kg.
