Yarding 7290 Change 5916

Good numbers were penned after last weeks rain affected sale. The quality of cattle yarded was fair to good. Plenty of restocker buyers were in attendance, plus all the usual feedlot buyers were operating and provided very strong competition for feeder weight cattle.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed jumped 29c and heavy weight yearling steers gained 18c/kg. Steer calves reached 402c and averaged 370c, up 1c, while light weight yearling steers topped at 400c and averaged between 376c and 379c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers sold to 378c and averaged 366c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 374c and averaged 355c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers made to 368c and averaged between 340c and 355c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers sold to 369c and averaged 354c, up 41c/kg. Medium weight PTIC cows earned to 267c and averaged 261c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows topped at 274c and averaged 269c/kg. Cows and calves sold to $1210/unit.

Roma light steers make 402c/kg

A total of 7290 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 402c/kg and averaged 375c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 400c/kg and averaged 371c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 386c/kg and averaged 364c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 376c/kg and averaged 358c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 374c/kg and averaging 343c/kg.

DC Diamond Pastoral Company, Nullin, Yuleba, sold Charolais-cross steers to 402c/kg for 146kg to return $588/head.

Defiance Cattle Co, Mountain Cottage, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 400c for 275kg to return $1103. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 364c for 268kg to return $976.

S & M Russell, Wodonga, Mungalalla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 400c for 232kg to return $929.

R & R Murphy, Prairie Flats, Charleville, sold Charolais-cross steers to 400c for 181kg to return $727.

Bracco Cattle Company, Bracco, Roma, sold Angus steers to 394c for 230kg to return $906. The Angus heifers sold to 378c for 220kg to return $834.

Bowood Pastoral Co, Bowood, Mitchell, sold Simmental-cross steers to 392c for 227kg to return $892.

W & K Freeman, Meeleebee Downs, Wallumbilla, sold Angus-cross to 391c for 249kg to return $974. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 362c for 260kg to return $941.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 368c/kg and averaged 328c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 370c/kg and averaged 342c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 380c/kg and averaged 345c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 378c/kg and averaged 345c/kg.

D & S Campbell, Currawarra, Mitchell, sold Red Angus-cross heifers to 364c for 201kg to return $731.

James Cox, Kerrys, Mitchell, sold Angus-cross heifers to 362c for 234kg to return $848.

John & Lynette Kadel, Pamaroo, Roma, sold Limousin-cross heifers to 360c for 317kg to return $1142.

Cows over 500kg sold to 282c/kg and averaged 263c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 272c/kg and averaged 251c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 268c/kg and averaged 231c/kg.

Sylvester Pastoral Co, Acadia Station, Injune, sold Droughtmaster cows to 273c for 510kg to return $1395.

Charolais-cross cows and calves sold to $1210/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 378c/kg and averaged 332c/kg.
