Yarding 5800 Change -2800

Yarding numbers returned to a usual amount after the previously large penning of cattle. Consignments were drawn from across western Queensland. All the usual restocker, feedlot, and processor buyers were present and operating.

Demand for light weight yearling steers and heifers softened. Meanwhile, demand increased from processors for cows with a large consignment of well-conditioned station bred sorts penned. Overall, it was a very mixed quality yarding of store cattle.

Steer calves sold to 436c and averaged 408c/kg. Light weight yearling steers made to 426c and averaged between 393c and 403c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed hit 368c and averaged 350c, while those returning to the paddock topped at 374c and averaged 357c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers reached 350c and averaged 345c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers earned to 404c and averaged between 348c and 366c/kg. A pen of heifer calves sold to 412c/kg.

Medium weight yearling heifers sold to 348c and averaged 323c/kg.

Grown steers to feed made to 324c and averaged 297c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows sold to 249c and averaged 239c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows averaged 252c/kg.

A total of 5800 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 436c/kg and averaged 395c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 426c/kg and averaged 386c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 412c/kg and averaged 371c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 374c/kg and averaged 348c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 356c/kg and averaging 331c/kg.

R & R Murphy, Koreelah, Charleville, sold Charolais-cross steers to 436c/kg for 178kg to return $779/head.

Simmac Pastoral Co, Mt Maria, Morven, sold Angus-cross steers to 426c for 273kg to return $1164.

D, A, & D Nowlands, Boondoon, Charleville, sold Santa-cross steers to 426c for 215kg to return $918.

John & Lyn Hudson, Maranoa Downs, Mitchell, sold Cross bred steers to 420c for 225kg to return $948. The Cross bred heifers sold to 384c for 227kg to return $872.

S & B Knight, Woodlands, Mitchell, sold Simbrah steers to 412c for 249kg to return $1026.

A & M Douglas, Springfield, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster steers to 412c for 288kg to return $1188. The Droughtmaster heifers sold to 370c for 243kg to return $901.

E & C Rolfe, Marie Downs, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 406c for 269kg to return $1093.

Sutton Beef, Bundabar, Glenmorgan, sold Santa-cross steers to 398c for 301kg to return $1200.

Stinson Pastoral Co, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 398c for 255kg to return $1017.

B Packer, Merino Downs, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 396c for 278kg to return $1102.

W & E Martyn, Canowindra, Roma, sold Simmental-cross steers to 378c for 306kg to return $1157.

Pink Hills Pastoral, Mayfair, Winton, sold Droughtmaster steers to 362c for 361kg to return $1309.

Argylla Mountains Pastoral, Glencoe, Mount Isa, sold Brangus steers to 356c for 295kg to return $1050.

West Farming, Loomeah, Roma, sold Hereford steers to 348c for 454kg to return $1581.

Terry Jukes, Armadilla, Morven, sold Charolais-cross steers to 348c for 445kg to return $1549.

Nissi Farming, Bobadilla, Roma, sold Hereford steers to 340c for 523kg to return $1779.

D & C McInnerney, Combarngo, Yuleba, sold Santa-cross steers to 336c for 453kg to return $1524.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 348c/kg and averaged 310c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 368c/kg and averaged 328c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 390c/kg and averaged 342c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 412c/kg and averaged 363c/kg.

Cows over 500kg sold to 275c/kg and averaged 245c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 258c/kg and averaged 231c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 270c/kg and averaged 216c/kg.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 404c/kg and averaged 318c/kg.
