Roma Store NLRS commentary:

Yarding 7263 Change -333

Numbers remained steady after scattered rainfall across parts of central and south west Queensland last week.

Young, light weight cattle dominated the yarding, while a good selection of store and 3 score cows were penned.

Extra restocker buyer demand pushed light weight yearling steers prices to 306c, while good quality light weight yearling heifers hit 270c/kg. Feedlot buyers paid up to 264c/kg for suitable medium weight yearling heifers. Several restockers were active on store cows and prices lifted 3c/kg. Steer calves sold to 300c and heifers calves sold to 254c/kg. Light weight yearling steers hit 306c and averaged between 275c and 281c, up 2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed hit 274c and averaged 256c, remaining unchanged in price, while those to restocker made to 288c and averaged 280c, up 9c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed topped at 276c and averaged 265c, up 18c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock sold to 270c and averaged between 238c and 244c/kg. Those to feedlot buyers sold to 260c and averaged between 218c and 254c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed reached 264c and averaged 242c, up 25c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 244c and averaged 243c/kg. Store cows to restocker made to 155c and averaged between 146c and 151c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows hit reached 199c and averaged between 164c and 187c/kg depending on quality. Heavy weight 4 score cows topped at 214c and averaged 198c, down 3c/kg. Cows and calves sold to $990 and averaged $808/unit.

Roma steers hit 306c/kg

A total of 7263 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale. Weaners under 220kg topped at 306c/kg and averaged 275c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 298c/kg and averaged 266c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 298c/kg and averaged 268c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 284c/kg and averaged 249c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 276c/kg and averaging 256c/kg.

P & M Brennan, For Far, Mitchell, sold Charolais-cross steers to 306c/kg for 201kg to return $616/head.

C Hermann, Vindex Station, Winton, sold Angus-cross steers to 304c for 194kg to return $591.

Cam Colley, Brucedale, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 300c for 196kg to return $589. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 266c for 280kg to return $747.

Whitton Cattle Co, Myrtleville, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 298c for 309kg to return $922. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 260c for 304kg to return $791.

R & D Loughnan, Alicker, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 298c for 290kg to return $867.

W & E Martyn, Canowindra, Roma, sold Simmental-cross steers to 296c for 290kg to return $860.

DC Diamond Pastoral Co, Mirri Mirri, Hannaford, sold Charolais-cross steers to 292c for 308kg to return $901.

Bungaringa Grazing Company, Bungaringa, Mitchell, sold Hereford-cross steers to 290c for 255kg to return $740.

E & C Rolfe, Nindinna, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 288c for 321kg to return $927. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 270c for 356kg to return $964.

Bill & Kellie McLean, Roma, sold Brangus-cross steers to 282c for 297kg to return $839.

Adam Walker, Rosedale, Longreach, sold Charolais steers to 280c for 349kg to return $978.

Cindy Warrian, Bonus, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 276c for 420kg to return $1161.

Camberwarra Cattle Co, Camberwarra, Corfield, sold Santa-cross steers to 276c for 359kg to return $991. The Santa-cross heifers to 248c for 347kg to return $862.

Mt Cornish Grazing, Mt Cornish, Muttaburra, sold Santa steers to 268c for 408kg to return $1095.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 270c/kg and averaged 224c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 270c/kg and averaged 222c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 268c/kg and averaged 218c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 266c/kg and averaged 228c/kg.

Ian Duff, Duffields, Roma, sold Limousin-cross heifers to 260c for 328kg to return $854.

Harrisons Harvest, St George, Limousin-cross heifers to 256c for 253kg to return $650.

G, M, & S Maunder, Macarra, Wallumbilla, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 244c for 282kg to return $689.

Riverglen Pastoral, Riverglen, Glenmorgan, sold Charolais heifers to 242c for 393kg to return $953.

Gwenbrook Farms, Gwenbrook, Roma, sold Santa-cross heifers to 238c for 234kg to return $558.

Cows over 500kg sold to 214c/kg and averaged 194c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 202c/kg and averaged 178c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 187c/kg and averaged 158c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $990/unit and averaged $808/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 280c/kg and average 251c/kg.
