The rain fronts that continue to come through have restricted the movement of cattle throughout the supply areas, resulting in a yarding of just 600 head.

The small yarding did not attract all the usual buyers, however prices remained strong, with light calves selling to a top of 450c/kg.

Weaner steers sold to a top of 396c, while yearling steers to feeders and restockers topped at 390c/kg.

Weaner heifers sold from 366c to 376c and yearling heifers topped at 354c/kg. Grown steers to feeders ranged from 338c to 362c and feeder grown heifers sold to a top of 338c/kg. A couple pens of cows sold to 258c/kg.

 

Roma light steers hit 450c/kg

Only a total of 617 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale, due to wet weather restricting the movement of cattle.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 450c/kg and averaged 430c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 396c/kg and averaged 383c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 388c/kg and averaged 339c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 342c/kg and averaged 301c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 362c/kg and averaging 354c/kg.

P & M Brennan, For Far, Mitchell, sold Angus-cross steers to 450c/kg for 205kg to return $923/head. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 402c for 174kg to return $699.

Argyle Pastoral Co, Ruthchillo, McKinlay, sold Romagnola-cross steers to 362c for 515kg to return $1867.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 336c/kg and averaged 329c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 350c/kg and averaged 332c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 368c/kg and averaged 346c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 402c/kg and averaged 389c/kg.

Tomcat Rural, Quamby, Yaraka, sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers to 366c for 236kg to return $867.

Cows over 500kg N/A, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 259c/kg and averaged 259c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 259c/kg and averaged 259c/kg.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 356c/kg and averaged 341c/kg.
