NLRS Roma Store Sale commentary:

Yarding 1547, Change -2653

Numbers declined after rainfall across most of the supply area. Good numbers of restocker, feeder and export processors were in attendance at the sale. Heavy weight yearling steers improved 1c/kg, while light weight yearling heifers attracted solid buyer competition. Cows improved up to 9c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers sold to 208c and averaged 195c, down 1c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 184c and averaged 177c, down 15c, while those returning to the paddock hit 191c and averaged 185c, down 11c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers sold to 201c and averaged 190c, up 1c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to feedlot buyers sold to 178c and averaged 170c, up 1c, while those to processors made to 172c and averaged 156c, up 28c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restocker buyers earned to 176c and averaged 168c, up 3c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 170c and averaged 166c, down 2c/kg. Light and medium weight 3 score cows topped at 139c and averaged 135c, while medium weight 4 score cows hit 162c and averaged 151c, up 9c/kg.

Weekly Roma Store Sale press report

A total of 1547 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale. Weaners under 220kg topped at 202c/kg and averaged 173c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 208c/kg and averaged 178c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 208c/kg and averaged 175c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 191c/kg and averaged 181c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 201c/kg and averaging 192c/kg.

G & A Webb, Pembroke, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 208c/kg for 286kg to return $595/head. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 176c for 284kg to return $501.

T & A McInnerney, Binnowee, Surat, sold Charolais-cross steers to 201c for 464kg to return $935.

J & P Ey, Lirambenda, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 200c for 278kg to return $557.

Cargara Cattle Co, Cargara, Augathella, sold Braford steers to 196c for 482kg to return $947.

D & R McInnerney, Combarngo, Yuleba, sold Charolais-cross steers to 186c for 482kg to return $897.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 163c/kg and averaged 151c/kg.Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 176c/kg and averaged 163c/kg.Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 178c/kg and averaged 164c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 171c/kg and averaged 152c/kg.

W & N Albeck, Nasby Farms, Wallumbilla, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 178c for 254kg to return $452.

Howson Family Trust, Tregarthyn, Miles, sold Hereford-cross heifers to 170c for 336kg to return $572.

Nikki Faulkner, Stressless, Roma, sold Hereford heifers to 170c for 330kg to return $561.

M Roberts, Tantatton, Wallumbilla, sold Hereford heifers to 166c for 332kg to return $552.

Winsper Family Trust, Korong Station, Cloncurry, sold Brahman heifers to 149c for 382kg to return $570. The Droughtmaster cows sold to 151c for 435kg to return $657.

Cows over 500kg sold to 162c/kg and averaged 145c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 162c/kg and averaged 138c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 148c/kg and averaged 131c/kg.

M McKnight & L Springall, Yallamurra, Cooladdi, sold a Brahman-cross cow to 162c for 780kg to return $1265.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 186c/kg and average 162c/kg.
