Beef Central, 17/06/2014

Roma Store Sale NLRS comment:

Yarding 5900, Change -200

It was a mixed yarding of store steers and good quality lines of light and medium weight yearling heifers penned. Overall, the light weight steers gained back the price declines of the previous week, while light weight heifers were firm to dearer in price. A few pens of light weight yearling steers were sold into northern NSW regions and good numbers of light weight yearling heifers were sold to southern livestock producers. Mixed quality medium and heavy weight yearling steers resulted in cheaper average prices. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold well, but plainer sorts experienced more selective demand from feedlot  buyers. Cows and calves sold to $570/unit.

Light weight yearling steers sold to 208c and averaged 188c, up 8c, while plainer lines sold between 156c and 167c, up 1c/kg.  Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 186c and averaged 171c, down 6c, while those returning to the paddock hit 192c and averaged 180c, down 10c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 185c and averaged 178c, down 5c, while those  to restocker buyers earned to 182c and averaged 169c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to feedlot buyers made to 164c and  averaged 148c, up 4c/kg. Those to processors sold to 156c and averaged 145c, up 7c, while light weight yearling heifers made to 145c and averaged 140c, up 4c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed topped at 167c and averaged 150c, down 9c/kg.

A few grown steers sold between 153c and 175c/kg. The store conditioned 2 score cows reached 94c and averaged between 60c and 76c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows sold to 124c and averaged 113c/kg.
