Yarding 4200, Change -1300

Mixed quality store cattle were penned with some good quality lines of young, light steers and heifers yarded. The number of restocker buyers from Southern Queensland and NSW increased, with expectations of rainfall in the next week. Restocker activity on light weight yearling steers and heifers improved prices, while good quality heavy weight yearling steers and heifers suitable for feed continued to meet solid feedlot buyer demand. The few heavy weight 4 score cows attracted plenty of export processor demand. Cows and calves sold to $540/unit.

Light weight yearling steers topped at 212c and averaged 196c, while plainer drafts sold between 159c and 178c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 200c and averaged 192c, while D muscled lines averaged around 160c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 196c and averaged 189c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to feedlot buyers made to 182c and averaged 169c, while those returning to the paddock hit 183c and averaged 165c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed reached 178c and averaged 168c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 178c and averaged 176c/kg.

Grown steers to feed sold to 165c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows averaged 124c, while heavy weight 4 score made to 145c/kg.

Weekly Roma Store Sale press report:

A total of 4200 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale. Weaners under 220kg topped at 212c/kg and averaged 192c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 212c/kg and averaged 188c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 200c/kg and averaged 182c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 200c/kg and averaged 182c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 196c/kg and averaging 177c/kg.

Peel Northampton Downs, Northampton Downs, Blackall, sold Charolais-cross steers to 212c/kg for 272kg to return $579/head. The Charolais-cross heifers to 183c for 228kg to return $417.

Nellybri Pastoral Co, Nellybri, Surat, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 208c for 245kg to return $512.

A & M Douglas, Springfield, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster steers to 206c for 275kg to return $567.

R & E Lister, Trevallen, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 205c for 240kg to return $493.

Yopies, Pembroke, Surat, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 201c for 227kg to return $457.

No 27 Pastoral Co, Eurolie, Barcaldine, sold Droughtmaster steers to 201c for 193kg to return $388.

Mary Brown, Benalla, Roma, sold Limousin-cross steers to 198c for 372kg to return $738.

D & C Collinson, West Myall, Roma, sold Angus steers to 198c for 302kg to return $600.

H & D Harrison, Dunrobin, Dulacca, sold Santa steers to 197c for 360kg to return $709. The Santa heifers sold to 165c for 350kg to return $578.

Ruthven Grazing, Ruthven, Isisford, sold Shorthorn steers to 194c for 403kg to return $783.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 178c/kg and averaged 157c/kg.Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 176c/kg and averaged 153c/kg.Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 183c/kg and averaged 163c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 181c/kg and averaged 162c/kg.

Jenny Ford, Lewah, Roma, sold Santa-cross heifers to 178c for 425kg to return $758.

J & Y Freeman, Emohruo, Roma, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 176c for 381kg to return $672.

B & E Zell, Wagoo, St George, sold Santa-cross heifers to 176c for 282kg to return $497.

S & L Reiser, Tocal, Mitchell, sold Charolais heifers to 176c for 222kg to return $391.

B & N Bauer, Arlington, Augathella, sold Charolais heifers to 172c for 251kg to return $432.

K & C Beitz, Middle Ridge, Amby, sold Santa-cross heifers to 162c for 248kg to return $402.

Boxel Holdings, Valley Downs, Barcaldine, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 149c for 453kg to return $453kg to return $676. The Droughtmaster cows sold to 145c for 542kg to return $784.

Cows over 500kg sold to 145c/kg and averaged 135c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 141c/kg and averaged 110c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 124c/kg and averaged 83c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $540/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 186c/kg and average 144c/kg.
