A mix of good quality and drought affected cattle were penned. More restocker buyers were present at the sale and all the usual feedlot buyers were operating. Light weight steers increased in price, while good heavy weight yearling steers to feed lifted 4c/kg on average. The good quality lines of yearling heifers sold well, but plainer sorts attracted less buyer interest. Heavy weight 4 score cows remained firm on the previous sale prices, while plainer sorts were cheaper on average. Cows and calves sold to $1210/unit and averaged $775.

Light weight yearling steers sold to 279c and averaged 247c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers topped at 267c and averaged 237c, up 12c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached 267c and averaged 247c, up 4c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to processors made to 220c and averaged 205c, while good quality sorts returning to the paddock hit 230c and averaged 217c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to feedlot buyers earned to 219c and averaged 190c/kg, unchanged in price. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 217c and averaged 201c, up 12c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 200c and averaged 187c, up 1c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows topped at 144c and averaged 132c, down 16c, while the 3 score lines topped at 177c and averaged 156c, down 9c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows sold to 184c and averaged 180c/kg.

A total of 6800 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale. Weaners under 220kg topped at 278c/kg and averaged 242c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 279c/kg and averaged 231c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 279c/kg and averaged 234c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 260c/kg and averaged 226c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 267c/kg and averaging 243c/kg. Cows and calves sold to $1210/unit and averaged $775/unit.

Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 279c/kg and averaged 234c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 260c/kg and averaged 226c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 267c/kg and averaging 243c/kg.

Sheals Pastoral Co, Mahrigong, Winton, sold Santa steers to 279c/kg for 292kg to return $816/head. The Santa-cross heifers sold to 224c for 266kg to return $597.

D & T Birch, Rosemount, Augathella, sold Brangus-cross steers to 270c for 266kg to return $718. The Brangus-cross heifers sold to 216c for 285kg to return $616.

A & M Power, Exley Station, Julia Creek, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 270c for 226kg to return $611. The Droughtmaster heifers sold to 226c for 211kg to return $478.

John & Lyn Hudson, Maranoa Downs, Mitchell, sold Angus-cross steers to 268c for 302kg to return $811.

Rosemount Grazing Co, Rosemount, Barcaldine, sold Charolais-cross steers to 267c for 400kg to return $1070.

Killarney Park Grazing, Killarney Park, Tambo, sold Santa steers to 262c for 409kg to return $1072.

B & L Warne, Billabalong, Injune, sold Droughtmaster steers to 258c for 422kg to return $1091.

Allen Family Investments, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 255c for 297kg to return $758. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 224c for 282kg to return $634.

G & J Girle, Al-Fresco, Injune, sold Cross bred steers to 254c for 446kg to return $1135.

J MacDonald, Ashling, Mitchell, sold Red Angus-cross steers to 254c for 417kg to return $1060.

Monivae Pastoral Co, Navarra, Roma, sold Simbrah steers to 250c for 313kg to return $782. The Simbrah heifers sold to 217c for 290kg to return $629.

M Chalmers & Camarca, MacDonald Downs, Alice Springs, sold Santa-cross steers to 240c for 410kg to return $985.

G & C White, Marionvale, Surat, sold Charbray steers to 226c for 357kg to return $808.

Peter Beale, Billin, Mungalala, sold Shorthorn-cross steers to 222c for 318kg to return $708.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 213c/kg and averaged 188c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 224c/kg and averaged 179c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 226c/kg and averaged 196c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 242c/kg and averaged 200c/kg.

Leahy Pastoral Co, Felcia Park, Wallumbilla, sold EU Angus-cross heifers to 225c for 267kg to return $602.

Emma Baker, Bodell Station, Julia Creek, sold Charolais heifers to 213c for 383kg to return $817.

Onley & Co, Bulala, Roma, sold Romagnola heifers to 208c for 394kg to return $821. Cows over 500kg sold to 182c/kg and averaged 176c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 179c/kg and averaged 157c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 160c/kg and averaged 127c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $1210/unit and averaged $775/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 242c/kg and average 183c/kg.
