Numbers returned to a normal level after the previously rain affected sale. Overall, the quality of cattle penned was mixed. Extra buyers from Central West Queensland were in attendance and increased restocker buyer competition during the sale. Feedlot buyers paid 2c to 19c/kg more on average for suitable store cattle.

Steer calves reached 366c and averaged 356, up 26c, while heifer calves topped at 360c and averaged 324c, up 7c/kg. Light weight yearling steers earned to 364c and averaged between 336c and 352c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold to 334c and averaged 324c, up 16c, while those returning to the paddock made to 342c and averaged 336c, up 14c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached 332c and averaged 319c, up 2c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers hit 360c and averaged between 299c and 325c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed hit 326c and averaged 318c, up 19c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 328c and averaged 322c, up 14c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows to restockers hit 272c, while most sold between 235c and 266c to processors and restockers. A few heavy weight 4 score cows topped at 280c/kg. A pen of Angus-cross cows with 4 month old calves sold to $1520, while most averaged $1420/unit.

Roma light steers hit 366c/kg

A total of 5526 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.
Weaners under 220kg topped at 366c/kg and averaged 341c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 364c/kg and averaged 335c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 348c/kg and averaged 329c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 336c/kg and averaged 316c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 332c/kg and averaging 318c/kg.
Alice Downs, Blackall, sold Santa steers to 366c/kg for 142kg to return $520/head. The Santa heifers sold to 360c for 173kg to return $625. The Santa cows sold to 264c for 345kg to return $912.
K & D Donner, Boxvale, Taroom, sold Santa-cross steers to 364c for 247kg to return $901.
S Kidman & Co, Durham Downs, Eromanga, sold Santa steers to 360c for 222kg to return $802. The Santa heifers sold to 338c for 228kg to return $771.
Hutchins Property Trust, Bendiboi, Surat, sold Brangus steers to 338c for 298kg to return $1010. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 332c for 136kg to return $453.

Cows over 500kg sold to 265c/kg and averaged 255c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 272c/kg and averaged 246c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 288c/kg and averaged 236c/kg.
A pen of Angus-cross cows with 4-month-old calves sold to $1520, while most averaged $1420/unit.
Bulls up to 400kg reached 352c/kg and averaged 286c/kg.
