Numbers lifted by 900 for a much plainer quality yarding of 3300.

In contrast to the previous sale there were a number of far western and northern consignments with a number of the cattle showing the effects of the hot dry conditions.

There were a large percentage of unfinished cattle throughout the yarding with only odd pens of properly finished cattle in most runs. There were consignments from Cobar, Fords Bridge,Broken Hill., Gulargambone, Coonamble, Lightning Ridge, and Walgett, along with the normal runs from local districts.

Not all the regular buyers were operating in a mostly cheaper market.

MLA market information advises young cattle to the trade were 6c cheaper with steer vealers selling from 324c to 355c/kg. The prime heifer vealers sold from 330c to 343c with the heavier weights over 330kg averaging 331c/kg. Prime steer yearlings sold from 305c to 331c with the heavier weights over 400kg averaging 313c/kg. The good selection of prime heifer yearlings sold from 290c to 343c with those over 400kg averaging 307c/kg.

Feeder cattle were 5c to 7c cheaper with the exception of the lightweight feeder heifers which were around firm. The feeder steers sold from 325c to 355c with the large number of heavier weights over 400kg averaging 340c/kg. The feeder heifers sold from 298c to 334c with the prime heavier weights averaging 307c/kg.

The better selection of suitable young cattle to the restockers was up to 20c dearer with the young steers selling from 331c to 487c while the young heifers returning to the paddock sold from 322c to 436c/kg. Steer yearlings to the restockers sold from 330c to 386c while the heifer yearlings to the restockers sold to 340c/kg.

Grown steers were 6c to 10c cheaper with the prime medium and heavy weights selling from 275c to 312c with the medium weights weighing between 500kg and 600kg averaging 295c/kg. The grown steers going to the feeders were in fact up to 10c dearer selling to 346c/kg. Grown heifers were 7c to 13c cheaper selling from 255 to 295c with the heavier weights over 540kg averaging 283c/kg.

Plain conditioned cows were up to 7c dearer while the better finished cows were 1c to 4c cheaper. 2 score cows sold from 195c to 221c with those weighing between 400kg and 520kg averaging 217c/kg. There were some restocker orders operating however they did not purchase any cows but they did provide a solid base in the market. The better 3 and 4 score cows sold from 216c to 250c for C muscled Limousin cows. The 4 score heavy weight cows averaged 243c/kg.

Bulls were 4c cheaper with the better muscled heavier weights selling from 230c to 258c to average 247c/kg. The backgrounders paid to 324c for young bulls to grow out.
