Weekly Roma Store Sale press report from the Roma Combined Agents Association: 

A total of 10,525 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

It was a very large yarding with good numbers of feedlot and restocker buyers in attendance. Prices improved for medium and heavy weight steers.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 210c/kg and averaged 171c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 210c/kg and averaged 164c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 209c/kg and averaged 179c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 209c/kg and averaged 174c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 193c/kg and averaging 172c/kg.

The Anderson family, East Sunrise, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 209c/kg for 351kg to make $734/head.

The Russell family, Augathella, sold Santa steers to 205c for 244kg to return $500.

Bracco Cattle Co, Amaroo, Roma, sold Angus steers to 202c for 313kg to make $633.

Institutional Investments, Toarki, Roma, sold Brangus-cross steers to 200c for 274kg to make $549.

Cameron Fraser Grazing, Culburnie, Barcaldine, sold Santa steers to 200c for 271kg to return $543.  

The Pether family, Autevil Station, Barcaldine, sold Angus steers to 200c and averaged 189c for 265kg to make $501.

The Collinson family, Gubberamunda, Roma, sold Angus steers to 198c for 290kg to return $575. 

Taylor Dennis Pastoral, Coolagh, Blackall, sold Angus-cross steers to 197c for 273kg to make $539. 

Whitton Cattle Co, Myrtleville, Injune, sold Charbray-cross steers to 193c for 417kg to return $806. They also sold Charolais heifers to 177c for 398kg to make $706.

The Russell family, Willara, Augathella, sold Brangus steers to 192c for 321kg to return $616. They also sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers to 170c for 344kg to make $585.

Glentulloch Grazing Co, Injune, sold Santa-cross steers to 192c and 188c for 341kg to make $643. They also sold Santa-cross heifers to 176c for 319kg to return $562.

Homeward Pastoral Co, Rocky Hills, Injune, sold Santa-cross steers to 182c for 326kg to make $594.

The Allan family, Tumbar Road, Blackall, sold Simmental-cross steers to 181c for 430kg to make $779. 

John Bodkin, Kamaruka, Mitchell, sold Santa-cross steers to 180c for 300kg to return $540.

Dart Pastoral Co, Thirlstone, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 177c for 395kg to make $700.

The Phillips family, Currawong, Mitchell, sold Simmental-cross steers to 175c for 361kg to make $631.

The Ferguson family, Annie Vale, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 172c for 501kg to return $862.

The Joliffe family, Walhallow, Amby, sold Charolais-cross steers to 171c for 420kg to return $719. 

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 177c/kg and averaged 158c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 176c/kg and averaged 159c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 180c/kg and averaged 160c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 180c/kg and averaged 157c/kg.

The Lord family, Kilterry, Julia Creek, sold Santa heifers to 180c for 256kg to return $462.

S Kidman & Co, Innamincka Station, Leigh Creek, sold Santa-cross heifers to 176c for 335kg to make $590.

Nobar Enterprises, Westerton, Longreach, sold Santa-cross heifers to 170c for 358kg to return $610.

Cows over 500kg hit 155c/kg and averaged 142c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 148c/kg and averaged 125c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 132c/kg and averaged 107c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $780/unit.

Margaret Greenway, Buckeys Creek, Charleville, sold Santa-cross cows to $780/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 196c/kg and average 138c/kg.
